Hello 👋

I'm Ed, a PhD student at the Institute of Astronomy in Cambridge. I'm interested primarily in the intersection of AI and exoplanetary science, and the search for alien life. I have secondary interests in planet formation, mini-Neptunes, Bayesianism, and AI interpretability + safety.

Background

I was born and grew up in London and did my masters and undergrad in Astrophysics at Cambridge. I briefly dipped into finance with an internship at Jane Street, but returned to research, focusing on planet formation in my masters project and research internship. As a PhD student, I've been working on ML-based climate models for exoplanets. 🤖🪐

Outside research, I like films, sports (🥊,⚽) and generally any non-astro/ML topic that grabs my interest — I am often distracted by things like philosophy of mind, complexity science, and being a Buddhist!
